Floating Classroom Assistant

JOB DESCRIPTION

As a Floating Classroom Assistant at A Child’s Place you will be instrumental in helping young children explore, discover and navigate the world around them. ACP is seeking an experienced, nurturing and enthusiastic Teacher to support and collaborate on the implementation of activities that foster social, emotional, physical and cognitive development to their group of children each day. A floating classroom assistant should be comfortable working with ages infant through Pre-K and enjoy adapting to the various needs of the classrooms. A Child’s Place offers year round programs for infants through Pre-K.

SHIFTS AVAILABLE
  • Part Time (25 hours per week)
  • Opener: 7:30a – 12:30p
  • Closer: 12:30p -5:30p
  • Mid-Day: 10:00a – 3:00p
  • Year Round (12-month position)
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Responsible for the supervision and daily classroom functions of a group of children.
  • Adhere to regulations of the Department of Human Services and ACP policies and procedures.
  • Support and implement approved lessons, activities and daily schedule in accordance with ACP curriculum.
  • Act as a substitute teacher or assistant when needed.
  • Move from classroom to classroom when needed to support staff and students throughout the day
  • Build a partnership with the parents and families of the children in your care.
  • Assist in the care of and cleanliness of the classroom and common areas of the center.
  • Work collaboratively with co-teachers and management team.
  • Promote positive work environment.
  • Maintain professional personal appearance, personnel file and professional development plan, adhering to the guidelines with ACP Employee Handbook.
  • Attend required staff meetings and complete necessary trainings.
  • Assists in other capacities as needed by Director or Assistant Director.
DESIRED SKILLS and EXPERIENCE
  • High School Diploma, required
  • CDA, Associates, BA or BS in ECE or Human Services Field preferred, but not required
  • Two years of documented experience working with young children, required
  • Ability to obtain all childcare clearances and additional information for childcare compliance. ACP will assist all new hires in obtaining their required documents.
  • Must be able to lift 40 pounds in connection with handling children for child safety and emergency situations.
  • Friendly, nurturing and professional demeanor. Ability to be conform to a schedule with reliability and dependability.
