Director of the Infant Center

JOB DESCRIPTION

As the Director of the Infant Center at A Child’s Place you will be instrumental in helping young children explore, discover and navigate the world around them. ACP is seeking an experienced, nurturing and enthusiastic Director to foster a well organized and welcoming environment that operates smoothly and seamlessly for our children and staff.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Growth of enrollment in the Infant Center; schedule and give tours.
  • Work cohesively and communicate with the Director of our Early Learning Center regarding the enrollment and transition of children from the Infant Center to the Early Learning Center.
  • Work with Executive Director and Human Resources on staffing needs of the center (enrollment, enrollment projections, hiring, etc.).
  • Assist in the interview process of potential hires.
  • Assist in training all new staff according to DHS, Keystone Stars and ACP requirements.
  • Work in the classrooms as a teacher to maintain proper ratios either on a short-term or long-term basis.
  • Cover breaks for staff as necessary.
  • Lead monthly staff meetings to discuss upcoming events, center issues/concerns, and corporate policies/issues.
  • Attend weekly check in meetings with the Director of the Early Learning Center.
  • Review teachers’ weekly lesson plans and offer support.
  • Promote a structured, academic and nurturing atmosphere in the classrooms.
  • Promote a supportive team atmosphere that fosters creativity and a collaborative work environment.
  • Maintain common areas of the center to a high standard of cleanliness.
  • Monitor cleaning/maintenance schedule for the entire center assuring teachers and assistants are maintaining their classrooms properly.
  • Maintain the center and each classroom in accordance with DHS, Keystone Stars and ACP requirements.
  • Report any maintenance needs or issues to the Executive Director.
  • Answer the phone promptly and in a pleasant, professional manner.
  • Assist with enrollment paperwork, roll call paperwork and additional classroom paperwork.
  • Help maintain all other office documentation in an organized and efficient manner.
  • Assist in the ordering of all school, paper and office supplies for the center.
  • Be an advocate for the children and families in your center.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS of the position:
  • Schedule must be flexible between the hours of 6:30am-6:00pm
  • Strong interest in working with Infants and Infant staff
  • Knowledgeable in DHS and Keystone Stars regulations
  • Infant lesson plan writing experience
  • Ability to support and manage staff daily
  • Work on a team with the Assistant Director and Director from the main center
DESIRED SKILLS and EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor’s Degree in ECE, Special Education, Child Development, Human Services or Elementary Education *Preferred
  • Associates Degree in ECE, Special Education, Child Development, Human Services or Elementary Education -or- enrolled in an education program with 30 credit hours in one of the above disciplines *Required
  • Ability to obtain all childcare clearances and additional information for childcare compliance.
  • Must be able to lift 40 pounds in connection with handling children for child safety and emergency situations.
  • Friendly, nurturing and professional demeanor. Ability to be conform to a schedule with reliability and dependability.

Pay: $38,000 – $42,000 per year
