Floating Classroom Assistant

Job Details:

Position 1: Classroom Assistant – Infants (Ages 6wks – 18mo.)

  • A Child’s Place Early Learning Center, 524 Sugartown Rd, Devon PA 19333
  • Full Time | 40 Hours per week
  • 8:30a – 5:30p with a 1-hour break, Monday through Friday
  • Assistant Group Supervisor

Position 2: Classroom Assistant – Young Toddler through Preschool (ages 18mo. – 5yrs)

  • Full Time | 40 Hours per week
  • 8:15a – 5:15p with a 1-hour break, Monday through Friday
  • Assistant Group Supervisor

Position Summary:

A Child’s Place Early Learning Center is seeking 2 full-time, on-site, Floating Classroom Assistants who will be responsible for the supervision and care of our young children. This is a highly collaborative role working closely with our Lead Teachers in each classroom that is visited. One assistant would focus on our Infant classrooms working with children as young as 6 weeks to 18 months in age. The second assistant would be responsible for supporting our early childhood classrooms working with age groups 18mo. through 5 years. Our early education teachers work to promote the social, emotional, academic, and physical growth of our students. Our classroom teachers and assistants are also responsible for building positive, professional relationships with our parents and families to support open and continuous communication. The ideal Assistant would be comfortable taking direction from our lead, conforming to an established schedule and routine, and participating in the facilitation of the day to day tasks including serve lunch, diaper changes, potty training, circle time, centers, and independent activities.

Essentials Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supervise group of children in a variety of settings (e.g. snack time, group or individual activities, playground activities, etc.) for the purpose of providing a safe and positive learning environment
  • Ensure the safety of children through constant supervision, effective management of space, proper maintenance of equipment, and regular practice of fire drills and other emergency procedures
  • Create an open, friendly, and cooperative atmosphere in which children and families feel comfortable and secure
  • Design an environment that responds to the children’s individual developmental levels and interests
  • Assist to organize and lead activities designed to promote physical, mental, and social development such as games, arts and crafts, music, sing-a-longs, and storytelling
  • Provide a variety of language stimulation activities
  • Ensure that parents receive adequate information about their child’s experiences at the center through daily contacts, reports, and photograph
  • Assist with transitioning onto the next classroom
  • Complete appropriate paperwork in a neat and organized manner (i.e. daily reports, incident reports, attendance sheets, medication logs, etc)
  • Attend monthly staff meetings and all required trainings for the purpose of receiving and conveying information related to program
  • Clean and maintain the classroom/playground environment
  • Interact with and engage the children in a positive manner
  • Provide constant, supportive and professional communication with coworkers, parents, and children
  • Have the ability to conform to an established and consistent work schedule
  • Follow all DHS and Keystone Stars requirements
  • Adhere to all policies found in the ACP Employee Handbook
  • Provide First Aid/CPR in the event of an Emergency, if certified
  • All other tasks as needed

Required Qualifications:

  • 18 or older *Required
  • High School Diploma *Required
  • 2 years of documentable experience working with children *Required
  • Associate’s or higher in Early Childhood Development, Early Childhood Education, or a Human Services related field*Preferred
  • Ability to successfully pass and maintain all background/clearance checks.
  • Maintain an employee file in accordance with DHS and ACP regulations.
  • Lift up to 40 lbs.
  • Repetitive bending, stretching, and stooping.
  • Climb up and down stairs.
  • Have the mobility required to ensure the safety of the children.
  • Work with children on the floor.
  • Work outdoors in any variety of weather.
  • Have visual and hearing capabilities that allow consistent supervision of children with DHS licensing safety requirements.
  • Perform light duty cleaning.
  • Light typing and word processing

Salary:

  • $16.00 – $17.00 Starting

Starting rate is contingent upon qualifications and experience provided.
